At 45-8 ENERGY, we develop projects focused on strategic resources such as helium and natural hydrogen. Our goal is to strengthen European energy independence, address the challenges of decarbonization, and pave the way for new strategic value chains.

Our activities focuses on two main areas:

Hélium : producing a critical resource in Europe

Helium is at the heart of major industrial strategic sectors: medical technology, space exploration, defense, semiconductors, artificial intelligence… Yet Europe is almost entirely dependent on imports.

45-8 ENERGY’s goals:

👉 Accelerate the transition to industrial-scale helium production in Europe by 2028
👉 Contribute to regional and European energy security by ensuring a local and sustainable supply

Natural hydrogen: supporting the energy transition

Natural hydrogen represents a new path toward the energy transition. Produced by the Earth and requiring no human-generated energy or water resources, natural hydrogen appears to be a viable solution for complementing the low-carbon hydrogen mix.

45-8 ENERGY’s mission:

👉 Understand the formation mechanisms and geological settings in which natural hydrogen is produced
👉 Analyze and model the specific characteristics of geological systems capable of generating or storing natural hydrogen
👉 Ultimately aim to achieve the economic development of this resource

Fonts-Bouillants

The Fonts-Bouillants permit, the first license granted in 2021, became the first site where pilot production of helium-rich gas has been carried out since 2024.

Avant-Monts franc-comtois

Having obtained a permit in 2022, this helium exploration project is located in the Doubs department and is currently under exploration.

Grand Rieu

The Grand Rieu exploration license is the company’s first natural hydrogen project, in collaboration with Storengy. Located in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques region, it paves the way for the potential development of a resource that remains largely unexplored.

Marensin

Obtained in 2025, this natural hydrogen exploration license is being carried out jointly with Storengy in the Landes department.

Brimir

This helium project represents a major opportunity for national and European sovereignty and for a secure supply of the resource.

Guhlen II

The potential of this license lies in multi-resource exploration and production (in situ helium and hydrogen).

Banjë e Vuçës

An application for an exploration license has been submitted to the authorities to explore Kosovo’s natural hydrogen potential.

Humboldt

Our presence in the United States is driven by the discovery of high concentrations of natural hydrogen in Kansas. In partnership with H2Au, our goal is to deepen our understanding of this resource and develop it.

Fayette

Our presence in the United States is driven by the discovery of high concentrations of natural hydrogen in Iowa. In partnership with H2Au, our goal is to deepen our understanding of this resource and develop it.
